Elapsed days or days on the calendar?
From 1 January 2027 to 3 January 2027, two days elapse. With “Include the end date” switched on, the date-only calculator counts three calendar dates: 1, 2 and 3 January. The start date is counted in both cases. For the same start and end date, the answer is zero elapsed days or one inclusive day.
A month is a calendar step
Calendar months do not have a fixed number of days. The calculator counts whole calendar months first and then the remaining days. From 31 January to 28 February 2027, it reports one calendar month and 28 days in total: January’s day 31 is clamped to February’s last day.
When you add clock times
With times enabled, 1 January at 09:00 to 2 January at 10:30 is 25 hours and 30 minutes. No extra end day is added. These inputs use fixed 24-hour days, not a named time zone; an actual elapsed interval through a daylight-saving change may differ. Reversed inputs are put in chronological order.
